Debauchery. But not too much.

This 4th of July was definitely the best to date. Ever. Imagine my surprise when you take into account the fact that it was, indeed, celebrated at “The Bay” as opposed to “The Beach” AND there was an ice luge involved. Yup. An ice luge. Sure, we briefly considered spending the 4th by the pool instead of fighting the traffic/parking/people/cops/etc. of PB. But we went. And aren’t we glad we did!

We had a sweet parking spot saved in our honor allowing for a laid back morning with minimal rush to the beach. Also working in our favor were the fabulous party peeps who busted their butts at 6am to set up three tents, a bbq, kiddie pool, beer coolers, ice luge, and a ton of food at our campsite. Having Kristen’s place 200 yards away made the day even more enjoyable allowing for naps, clean bathrooms, and overall safety from the massive party taking place on the sand.

After all was said and done, it was a fantastic 4th. I even managed to keep my 5th annual tradition of missing the fireworks. Bummer. But I woke up again in time for ‘The Luke Wuellner Show’. Which was well worth the awake-ness and the slumber party on the couch. It was a great mid-week weekend.

And now we’re off, yet again – looking forward to days spent on the lake, family, concerts, H&M and cheese steaks galore.

Happier.

Happy New Year! A time for new beginnings and the start of something good. Like a really, really good week. or month. or year!

I had a blast last night watching Gusterlicious on the Hornblower and the only thing missing was Clark. I literally had all my fellow Guster luvas around me – except the guy who introduced me to them. While Clark was stuck at his office, Britt, Travis, Luke, Kevin, Jason, Tyler and friends were all enjoying the beautiful sunset, navy seal training action, and sweet sounds of Guster. As I’ve recently discovered though – I only seem to go to shows where I can get good pictures. There’s got to be some messed up psychological reason for that. Don’t waste your time analyzing though. It’s far too time consuming. and the results aren’t very interesting.

Countdown is officially beginning: 365 days to go. Mark your calendars.

the good genes.

I seriously need to master the art of making cool faces during photo ops.

This week is bittersweet as it brings a super fun (?) photo session at the cove, Pat’s return to Sandy Eggo, and a lovely concert on a boat… but it’s also the annual ‘Hell Week’ for Clark. Which means not only is he working a minimum of 15 hours everyday this week, including Saturday – it also means he won’t get to join me to watch one of his favorite bands play. Not cool. Lucky for me, I’ll get to see him between 9pm-10pm everyday before we pass out.

Last week lead me to La La Land for an impromptu visit to a Teen Vogue fashion show (don’t ask), then we stole their star performer and made our way to Hotel Café. It was there that I spent the evening enjoying girl talk, Cooking network talk, listening to the delicious Eric Hutchinson jam his oh so catchy jams, making fun of late 90’s pop stars who (apparently) still play at places like say, hotel café, and of course, learning about the pop sugar phenomenon. Good times indeed.

The weekend was all it was cracked up to be as we enjoyed a little sun and pool time and a fresh bbq at the newly purchased Casa de Huff in North Park. A few blankets, a ton of homemade t-shirts, Polaroid pictures, music blasting from the 8-track and all the veggie burgers one could hope for made for a simply enjoyable day. Now if only I had gone to that concert Sunday night…

more wine please.

My darling Lana-banana so kindly reminded me that I haven’t updated this blog action lately. Lots going on actually. Fun in the Sun every weekend. Wedding planning. Concerts galore, although not as many as Wilson has on the books.

Speaking of which…Doesn’t the bass player from Gomez look like Clark (but with more beers)??!

This week takes me to LA for a quick concert road trip with fellow music luva buddy. Should make for a sleepy Friday. Then hopefully another on the 29th, crossing my fingers. And then week o’ 4th of July goodness commences with the arrival of (drum roll please) Matt PcCloskey and Pat McCloskey! Hooray! It’s a toss up – I can’t decide who I’m more excited to see! The first week of July brings the birthdays of 2 lovely ladies and 2 lovely men. All my favorite people seem to be born around the same time! What can I say – I have a thing for Cancers. Always have.

Work is going well. Just super busy planning for this that and the other thing. This past weekend took me to Sea World with my BFF for a few hours for what seemed like the longest day ever. Started at 7:30am in OB and ended around 4am in PB and an inevitable call for a ride home to my darling future hubby. And somehow, I’m still exhausted.

How’s that for a vague blog? xoxox

nothing til' the soundtrack starts

Last night I was reminded why you’re encouraged to trust your instincts. Even if it's just a matter of do I go out on a "school night" or not? I was reminded that a show can be much better when you’re not waiting behind a camera for the next great shot, or thinking about the chats, hugs and high fives that will soon follow. You leave the photos for your memory to handle and just pay attention to the words. I was reminded what my favorite singer/songwriter/man-about-town looks like when he’s really enjoying himself on a small stage, doesn’t feel forced to be there, isn’t exhausted from endless touring, is tanned and healthy. That was nice to see. I was reminded to be thankful for your right thumb. Whether you’re a spectacular artist or not.

And finally, I was reminded that none of that matters if you leave the one you came with inside wondering where you went with the rockstar and his friends. Because his kind of love, is what makes you love music and all things beautiful in the first place.

almost pre-season

OK...thanks to my boss's boss bringing me back a fun treat from Texas (and bringing me outta my 'i hate the boys' rut) , I guess I can be a Cowboy fan again. But I can't cheer for T.Oh-No just yet. Besides, this little blue star just feels like home.

parched

The label on the next available water in E7 was kinda coming off. It took me a few minutes to decide if I should get it with the faulty label or go with another row. I decided I could deal with the faulty label.
